The Components of Alarm Systems for Apartments

Alarm systems for apartments are important – there are no two ways about it. When it comes to the protection of our own apartment unit, we can only really rely on the protection that we ourselves employ. As you may or may not have noticed, a lot of apartment complexes do not really focus on the individual protection of their tenants. Sometimes, there are security cameras installed in hallways and lobbies. However, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that this sort of protection is clearly not paramount for the individual security of apartment tenants.

Personal Security

Apartment alarm systems that are personal specifically focus on the security of an individual, or individuals living in one apartment unit. What this means is that the installed security components like motion sensing lights, motion activated security cameras, motion sensor alarms and locks, all work together to ensure the safety of the tenants of a single apartment, plus the property itself and valuables therein. On the other hand, general apartment security works to provide safety and security in a manner that is not very precise or specific, so you cannot guarantee your own level of safety with this type of security. Most apartments have security components installed, but these cannot guarantee everyone’s safety.

Components for apartment or home security

Motion activated security camera – This type of security camera is a more ‘advanced’ and efficient version of a regular security camera. Its advantage is based on motion-sensing technology, which kicks in and gets the security camera capturing images or video only when it senses the presence of something or someone moving in the area it is monitoring. This type of security camera is preferred by many because they are able to save as much as 90% of hard disk space using this security camera, since the technology it has is intelligent. These security cameras work based on the assumption that any activity (which the camera senses through movement) could be criminal activity, and so recording only begins when movement is detected.

Motion sensing lights – When these lights are activated, they immediately switch on when someone approaches the area that they are “guarding”. These are useful for giving crooks the impression that someone is home or awake and could call the cops on them, even if this is not really the case. Many homeowners activate their motion sensing lights when they go on vacation.

Motion sensor alarms – Much like security cameras, these are sensors that detect a person’s presence through a sensor. The difference is that these will trigger an audible alarm that is sure to catch your attention or wake you, if the presence of an individual is detected somewhere in your home, when no one should be there.
